This is the page for all of the information about Visual Arts for CMS. I will have information about art shows, community projects, remote learning and displays of student artworks. Please feel free to check back from time to time and check your student's grade level to see what they have been making in art this year.
Mrs. Z’s Expectations and Thoughts
Art is awesome because it is everywhere. Everyone can create art in their own way. Art is peaceful and relaxing, it will brighten your day and make you think.
Visual arts class is a class in which you can earn a good grade if you work hard and try your best. It should be meaningful, relaxing and fun to create in. It is also about showing good character and being a leader. Do your best, even when no one is looking. Take advantage of the time you have.
PBIS Goals and Expectations:
When we enter the classroom, be on time and be prepared to work. Bring your supplies. Walk in and start on your journal. Do your best.
Use your best listening skills when directions are being given. Ask when you don’t know something. I’m here to help.
While working on a project, be respectful to those around you. Use a quiet voice so that others can work also. To be respected, you have to show respect. Pick a seat that will help you to do your best work.
Take responsibility for your actions.
Be compassionate towards others. If you see a project that is awesome, tell the artist. If you see someone who needs help, try to help. Think about how your actions affect others.
Take the time to earn the grade you want. Don’t settle for less. Make something that makes you proud. Share it with someone.
While using class materials, take care of them as if they were your own. Use items correctly and please put them back when you are done. Help keep the art room clean.
Enjoy what you do and try your best!

3. Continued disruption will result in a phone call home.
Sketchbook: One drawing per day will be completed in the first five minutes of class. A list of these journals will be found at the bottom of this web-page. Each drawing will be worth 3 points and kept in a journal. They don’t have to be colored. They will be due the week before the nine week ends.
Rubric: -at least have of the size of a notebook paper
-has details to illustrate the topic of the journal
-effort: it is sketched and thought out, not scribbled
We might not all be the next Vincent Van Gogh or Leonardo da Vinci but we all possess the ability to be creative, positive and to put forth an honest effort, which is all that will ever be expected. We all have different interests, likes and dislikes, and that’s OK! If your attitude is positive and you incorporate your interests into your artwork, everyone will enjoy art class!

Remote Learning
If at any point we go to remote learning, here are some extra guidelines that will be used.
All students will be using Google Classroom to view project directions, guidelines, samples, suggestions, grades, comments, etc, you will be emailed an invite to Google Classroom for your specific class
I can be emailed, called or asked questions from Google Classroom if you need help or are confused at any time
Zoom calls will be made as needed to discuss projects and viewpoints
You will take a photo of each project and upload it to your Google Classroom
Each project will have a due date that it is due, if it is 10 days late, it will not be accepted
If any project is turned in and I find out that it is copied and pasted from someone else or from on the internet the project will result in a zero and you will not have the opportunity to redo the project
Grades will be posted on Google Classroom as well as ProgressBook
