“The Weaver of Dreams” is how Mrs. Diane Mediate was described by the class of 2004 in their introduction of her at commencement that year at Memorial High School. Mrs. Mediate, a Campbell Alumni, has more than 25 years of experience as an educator working in various settings with diverse student populations. She has been active as a mentor, class advisor, and girls’ basketball coach.
Mrs. Mediate holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Youngstown State University and a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Westminster College. She is certified to teach grades 7 through 12 in Mathematics, Psychology, and Sociology. Mrs. Mediate truly values the gift of education and is committed to ensuring her students become self-empowered, independent, and confident young leaders. She has previously taught Algebra 1, Advanced Algebra II, and Pre-Calculus at Memorial High School. From 2001 to 2016, Mrs. Mediate served as an adjunct mathematics professor at Youngstown State University. Here at Columbiana, Mrs. Mediate is teaching Algebra I and Algebra II.
Mrs. Mediate had an article, “A Working Math Notebook” published by Prentice Hall. She has received many teaching awards and nominations from her students for various honors. Outside of professional interests, she travels widely, reads, and volunteers for the Scott Hamilton Cares Initiative as a 4th Angel Mentor. An essential aspect of her life is family -- her husband (who holds a MBA and is a practicing CPA), and their three school-age children who attend Columbiana Schools.
