I was born and raised in Moultrie. I am married with three children, two of whom are married themselves. I am a life long learner with a
love of reading and learning, and I am intrigued by technology of all sorts. I love animals, especially cats, and I love helping people.
I graduated from Colquitt County High School in 1982 and attended Valdosta State College (yes, College and not University at the time) where I met my husband Steve. I did not set out to be an educator as I graduated with a Business Management degree. I found out quickly that I wasn't going anywhere working in the business world! That is when I decided to do something to make a difference - teach.
I taught business education classes for 9th through 12th grade for 2 1/2 years until my first son, Taylor was born. At that time, I chose to be a stay at home mom for about 10 years, following my husband from Florida to Alabama, where my other 2 children were born, Connor and Brooklyn.
Eventually we moved back home to Moultrie where I finished my teaching certification that I started years before, and in 2000 started teaching at Williams Middle School as a 6th grade math teacher.
I didn't stop there. I continued in school to obtain my Media and Instructional Technology Masters Degree to pursue my love of reading and technology. Two years later, I was assigned the position of half-time media specialist and half-time technology specialist for Williams Middle School. This job was the perfect job as it let me help teachers use technology in their classrooms as well as work in the media center as a second media specialist.
In 2013, I was assigned as an Instructional Technology Specialist where I served the technology needs of several schools in the county. My education continued by obtaining my Instructional Technology Specialist degree in 2015. I currently work as one of four Instructional Technology Specialists for Colquitt County Schools.
And of course I have to show off my precious grandsons who are the apple of my eye!
