Description of the Event

This site was created to collect and organize the materials and resources shared and generated at the 1-day in person convening that brought together charter school leaders and authorizers to explore how some Colorado charter schools and national organizations are supporting inclusive student enrollment and retention practices.

The Fall 2022 Equity Convening will spotlight approaches schools are taking including:

Examining SPED enrollment rules and best practices
Leveraging family and community engagement
Implementing universal enrollment solutions
Utilizing retention data

The convening examined the following questions:

What enrollment and retention practices foster greater inclusion and a welcoming environment to serve all students in charter schools? Are current practices unintentionally deterring students from accessing your school?

KEYNOTE

Nicholas Martinez, Co-founder of Transform Education Now

Nicholas worked as a community organizer at DSST Public Schools, the highest performing network of schools in Denver. As an organizer he helped to elevate parent voice and experience to demand change. Before organizing with DSST, Nicholas spent 4 years teaching middle school history in Southwest Denver, where he formed deep bonds with his students and the families he served.
