Problem Sets

Information

There will be one problem set each session. The numbering is as follows:

  1. Trace Methods 1

  2. Duality 1

  3. Fixed Points 1

  4. Spectra 1

  5. Duality 2

  6. Trace Methods 2

  7. Fixed Points 2

  8. Spectra 2

  9. Trace Methods 3

  10. Spectra 3

  11. Trace Methods 4

  12. Duality 3

  13. Spectra 4

  14. Trace Methods 5

The first step when you start a problem set should be to read the first three pages (i.e., the material that is not in the "Bonus Content" sections) of that problem set to get a general idea of what is to come.

You are not expected to be able to work through all of the problem set during a session. You can come back to problems during later problem sessions or after the workshop.

You do not need to do the problems in order. If one problem seems more interesting than others, you can start there. If you get stuck for too long, move along and come back to the problem you got stuck on later, perhaps even after doing later problem sets.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and/or falling behind, don't worry! Focus on the problem sets that you can do. Try to learn as much as you can, but at your own pace. There's even a second room you can go to work on earlier materials (CASE E-340)! It was reserved just for this.

If you find that you already know certain topics, you can skip problems and work on the bonus questions session. Or you can take time to help others catch up. By the end, there should be something new for everyone at the workshop!
