COSMOS
Community of Support for Marginalized Students
COSMOS is a student organization dedicated to diversifying CU Boulder Physics, APS, and Math Departments. We strive to make our departments an inclusive environment and have equal access for the community to help reduce URM/POC isolation in STEM. In addition to community support events like Coffee & Cookies Hour and Movie Night, we also support our members professionally with CV/Resume Workshops, Graduate Student Panels, and more!
COSMOS provides a platform for students to offer support, connect with peers and professionals, and collaborate outside of the classroom.
We offer:
- Study/Social events
- Professional Development Workshops/Information sessions
- Special Advising Sessions with Faculty Liaisons
- Research Opportunities
…. and other fun activities!
For the most up to date information, check out our discord! All of our announcements about new scholarships, research opportunities, and future events are on there. We also have channels to talk about your day, share a funny meme, or get some advice from upperclassman and graduate students!
Events
Biweekly Coffee Hours in Student Groups Room (Duane G135A): 9-11am starting 1/28!
Weekly Meetings every Monday, 4:30-5:30pm in Duane G126 starting 1/27!
We're always looking for more members for our team! You can just email us/DM us on Discord and let us know what you'd be interested in. The specifics of your workload will depend on what position you join, but we will never ask for more than you can handle. Besides helping out the community, some benefits include closer contact with Department staff/faculty, meeting like-minded and driven students, and a major line item in a CV/Resume!
