Graduate students visiting a kindergarten class for the 'Cloud in a Jar' demonstration.
Leveraging ATOC’s diverse expertise, we create adaptable, engaging demonstrations that cover fundamental Earth science topics for any grade level from kindergarten through 8th grade. The typical classroom visit lasts about 40 minutes and involves 2-4 graduate student volunteers. We begin each lesson with an interactive discussion that introduces the relevant scientific principles. Afterward, we lead the class through the demo, either in small groups or as a whole, depending on the experiment. Classroom visits provided through SEEDS are 100% free for all schools. We are driven by a desire to share our love for atmospheric and oceanic sciences with the community.
