You may see or hear about "Course Categories". This is a feature in Moodle that allows us to put courses into categories. These categories will show up when you are in Moodle. They are helpful to make sense of the type of course you are looking at. Below are the current categories and further down is an image that might be useful:
2022 - Fall Courses: Courses that are being taught in Fall 2022 and will be auto-populated with live students.
Sandboxes: Each faculty and alumni mentor has a course that includes “Sandbox” in its title and is in the Sandbox category. These courses are do not have any other person in that course except for the given faculty or alumni mentor. They are places where one can play around, try things out in Moodle. The idea is that you can build things in the sandbox and if you like them, copy them into a live Moodle course.
Support & Training: These are courses that are trainings, programs, or resource spaces that different people will have access to based upon their affiliation with CU. For instance, all faculty and alumni mentors have access to Teaching & Learning with Moodle while all students have access to Moodle & Online Learning 101.
Course from Google Classroom: These are courses that been migrated over from Google Classroom. Faculty will be given access to these courses if they taught them (or will be teaching them) going forward. These are similar to Sandboxes in that they will not have students enrolled in them; just relevant faculty. Faculty will want to copy this course into their Fall 2022 course if they want to change, update, and prepare it for their fall course. See Copy a course (4:33 minutes)
