The Mott Haven and Hunts Point areas of the Bronx are called "Asthma Alley" by healthcare professionals because they have one of the highest rates of asthma deaths and disease in the entire country [1].

IN THE BRONX, 6 CHILDREN IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CLASSROOM OF 30 STUDENTS ARE LIKELY TO HAVE ASTHMA. THIS FIGURE IS TWICE THE NATIONAL AVERAGE [2].
