The Public Invention Science Writing Fellowship provides mentorship and a stipend to a select cohort of postdoctoral researchers in the applied sciences. Fellows will receive guidance, tools, and resources through program partners Collaboratory Science, the GreenLathe Science Collective, and the National Postdoc Association.
Our team will work with candidates to determine the best path forward, based on individual situation and career trajectory. Suitable applicants will have a plan to produce a paper for publication, a funding proposal for a sponsored project, open source design, or other peer-reviewed document. We will also consider innovative outreach plans that communicate research through non-traditional outlets, such as pre-print and open source platforms.
Public Invention empowers its community of interdisciplinary researchers to shape the future by nurturing humanitarian innovations. The Public Invention Fellows Program expresses our commitment to science in service to humanity by supporting postdoctoral researchers who have lost their funding due to recent budget cuts.
Successful Fellows will submit a paper for publication, a funding proposal, or other written product within six months of their appointment to the Fellowship.
Eligible applicants are postdoctoral researchers whose position or job offer was directly or indirectly impacted by 2025 budget cuts.
