Throughout the academic year, Colgate offers many presentations, brown bag lectures, guest lecturers, and events that are sustainability-related. Participants will earn 1 point per event they attend.

Within one week of attendance, participants are required to fill out and submit the form below, which will serve as the confirmation for the event or program you attended.

September 11, 2026 12:15-1:15 pm-ENST Brown Bag-Dark Skies and Sense of Place, ALANA MPR-Dr. Jeff Bary will discuss how local actions and broad sky-survey initiatives are fighting light pollution to protect our night skies and preserve our deep-rooted sense of place.
September 18, 2026 3:00-5:00 pm-Fall Harvest Festival, Community Garden, 1737 Route 12B- This annual celebration at the Community Garden will feature indigenous singing and dancing, pumpkin painting, and more.
September 29, 2026 4:15-5:15 pm-ENST Brown Bag-Refugia: Resilience Ecology in Global Climate Fiction, 105 Lawrence Hall-Dr. Bryan Rasmussen will evaluate how global climate fiction reframes nonhuman species into agents of cultural preservation in an era of climate disruption. Hosted by AHUM
October 2, 2026 12:15-1:15 pm-ENST Brown Bag-Ecologically Critical Places, ALANA MPR-Dr. Brian Rasmussen will explore how complex environmental conflicts in California demand innovative storytelling, moving from research to fiction to address competing claims of justice.
October 23, 2026 12:15-1:15 pm-ENST Brown Bag-Movement of Life-Science and Conservation in Motion, ALANA MPR-Smithsonian research ecologist Jared Stabach demonstrates how tracking animal movement data informs evidence-based solutions for global wildlife conservation.
October 30, 2026 12:15-1:15 pm-ENST Brown Bag-I Drink Your Milkshake: Hydrogeology and Politics on the Colorado River, ALANA MPR-Professors Andy Pattison and Joe Levy will discuss how the interplay between hydrogeology and politics shapes the management of the Colorado River.
November 4, 2026 4:15-6:00 pm-ENST Brown Bag-Derailed: Corporate Rail and Toxic Exposure, Persson Auditorium-Activist-scholar Nicole Fabricant shares how youth organizers in South Baltimore fought against industrial toxic exposure to build a more just community. Hosted by SOAN.

October 23, 2025 4:15 pm-ENST Brown Bag-TINY GARDENS EVERYWHERE, Golden Auditorium, The History Department is bringing in Kate Brown to discuss how urban gardeners regenerated wastelands, built the first garden city communities, and advocated for equity. Co-sponsored by ENST, EEGS, and SOAN.

April 10, 2026 4:30-5:30 pm-"Tempestry: The Art of Climate Data Opening Reception and Networking Hour", Alumni Hall, Longyear Museum of Anthropology, 2nd Floor. The exhibition will feature crocheted and knitted representations of local climate data, or "tempestries," from key years in Colgate's history.
