Prompt Sheets for The Friendly AI: Taming Gemini for Campus Efficiency
Feeling overwhelmed by the buzzwords and high-tech jargon? This session is designed to ease your concerns and demystify generative AI. Let’s focus on how tools like Gemini can become your everyday work buddy—not a replacement.
Google Tools: Gemini and NotebookLM
Ahmad Khazaee, Director of Creative Technologies, Engagement and Support
This presentation will demo use cases with Google’s Gemini and NotebookLM tools. It will showcase a preconfigured gem and notebook describing how it was built and identifying pitfalls and strengths. After a demonstration we will show how to access these tools and get started. After a brief group discussion we will build a gem and notebook together so attendees can leave with a custom set of tools.
Creating Continuity in AI Image Generation
Andrew Smith, Instructional Designer for Innovative Media
Sarah Cross, Instructional Designer - Learning Platforms and Universal Design
AI can quickly generate striking images, but creating visuals that stay consistent across a series requires a different approach. In this interactive session, participants will experiment with Gemini and Adobe Firefly to learn techniques for maintaining visual style, characters, and composition across multiple images. Through demonstration, hands-on practice, and discussion, we will explore both the creative potential and the limitations of AI image generation when developing visual materials for university work.
From Complexity to Clarity: Using AI as a Creative Thought Partner
Usman Ahmad, Application Integration Developer
Christine Moskell, Strategic Initiatives Lead
Many of us spend a lot of time brainstorming by ourselves –listing project tasks, sketching flow charts, or jotting down ideas. This session demonstrates how to leverage Google’s NotebookLM and Gemini to bridge the gap between brainstormed ideas and impactful storytelling related to project work. Session attendees will learn how to use these tools to pressure test ideas, simplify complex technical information and transform and summarize fragmented ideas into a compelling presentation outline and summary.

You’ll walk away with a clear understanding of how to customize your Google apps to fit your specific role, helping you focus more on supporting students and colleagues and less on manual data entry. Sessions attendees who are interested in experimenting with this tool will also learn about ITS’ Workspace Studio Pilot Program.
