Have you ever heard of a mystical city in the clouds? Well, it is called Machu Picchu. Let's see how this interesting place called Machu Picchu was like.

This amazing piece of land is a deserted site built by the Incas in Andes Mountains. Machu Picchu was a small city, built in 1450. It had an organized society, with military and services. Machu Picchu is known as the city in the clouds. There was over 150 buildings including homes, palaces and temples.

The Incas were great builders and engineers. Machu Picchu was built so well that after ~ 500 years, you could not even slide a knife between the rocks. I know, it sounds really amazing. The chips left from carving stons were put under the ground, so when it rains, the chips drain the water away. The Incas used ramps to move the materials, etc. Another amazing fact, the staircases were 'earthquake-proof'. You can actually see the famous water system on the right. I'm pretty sure they could have built stronger walls since they got raided later on.

I know you wonder, who these Incas were. Well, let's learn about the Incas. First, the Incas were not born in Machu Picchu. They always have lived in South America as thieves. The emperor of the Incas was considered to be a descendent of the SUN GOD (in order to be an emperor you must be a man). The Incas had no written language so they couldn't write. In Machu Picchu, the air is so thin, that they always got sick. When they got raided, the raiders only found the Incas but luckily not Machu Picchu. They could have fought for it atleast.
