As a child, me and my young brother, Tony Banes, always watched crime movies. At that time, we promised each other we’d be detectives one day.

Nowadays, I work at the NYPD, and I have a mystery to solve: the rarest and most important existing diamond was stolen. But let me introduce myself to you… My name is Tom, Tom Banes. I’m 25 years old and I proudly work as a detective. Like I said, being a police officer has always been my biggest goal. Growing up in New York city opened a lot of doors… When you observe people too long, you realize how childish it is to believe in predictable cases. Besides, everyone has their reasons in a big city. And what I mean by that? No crime is done without second intentions of course. Plus, a good plan comes from hard work, and no villain would put that much effort if it wasn’t worth it… That’s why every good detective looks for reasons, not just names to be blamed.

Now coming back to today's reality, I decided to go for a walk. My head didn’t get any rest this past week since I can’t uncover my greatests mystery: the stolen diamond. Who stole it? And why? I mean, it holds a great value, of course, but why now, and mainly, how? With the amount of protection this museum had, it would all be possible only if the thief was a genius…

The cold weather and the snow seemed to comfort me for a second, until a young woman bumped at me.

“Oh! My apologies…”, said the girl. I knew her: Melissa Bloomwod. She could never keep her nose out of our job as officers, always solving her cases with silly friends like some kind of joke, but she does work very well to be honest… And by her side, Andrew Harris. The man also didn’t seem strange to me, he’s worked in big cases before, also a good professional.

At that second, it was clear how we were meant to be. Usually, I work alone, but clearly that case would have to be the first time, and my beg help was right in front of me.

“Excuse me, miss? Gentlemen?”, they looked back, “my name is Tom, you might’ve heard of me… Well, I need your help”. The confusion in their faces while we shook hands was quite funny, but I understand them. I meen, detectives usually don’t stop you in the middle of the street because they can’t solve their cases by themselves, but it had to be done.

Bloomwood took us to her apartment, and what I didn’t know was that a hippie shoe box full of rocks and insens, could be our new workspace.

– Welcome, my home is your home. – what a cliche – Well Mr. Banes, I’m glad you’re here too, I believe we have the same intentions. – Mel proceeded to tell us what she knew about the diamond case, like I said, she likes minding about my business. But suddenly Mel receives a call from the police of NYC inviting us to go there and solve the crime, guess I’ll have to get used to them. So we decided to travel the next day, all of us seemed tired and Andrew had work to do.

In the morning, we all met at the main police station, to be honest I still had to adapt a little to the idea of having partners, but if my boss said that we all were the best, then maybe it would be a good experience. Harris was a quiet guy, only answers when you ask and doesn’t seem to love exposing his opinion, but he was always watching, taking mental notes of his surroundings and observing every breath of air.

After that we went to the museum and found a clue. There were some cut wires in the energy painel, all the security systems were turned off. The thief was wearing gloves so to try to find evidence, we called the experts from the police to analyze the crime scene, and one of the experts found droplet blood on the floor. We went to Melissa’s lab, she started to analyze that sample of blood and when she finished, we discovered that the thief was one of the Mariarchy twin.

Tony Banes did everything to find the real location of the thief but he was living in Brazil so they got the police helicopter and went there. Brazil was a very beautiful place, so we were enchanted and really wanted to go to Copacabana’s beach. So we went and for our surprise the thief was there! We saw the diamond too, because of the light that it showed to us.

When we saw the criminal he started to run, we ran after him too and fighted a lot, after much stress we won and arrested the thief. Some officers of the NYPD came to Brazil and got the criminal, so me and my new partners had a lot of fun in this beautiful country.
