SAN IGNACIO A.O. Online Spelling Bee

The Spelling Bee Club  is a workshop consisting of three online sessions in August, 2023, where you will learn to spell in English, and the best thing is that it is open to all students who REGISTER. 

This year's San Ignacio A.O. Online Spelling Bee Contest will take place in September 2023. 

We are teachers from Colegio San Ignacio in Santiago de Chile who are very passionate about promoting the usage of English as a vehicle for learning and international communication, and we want to instill this spirit in our students. 

The first Spelling Bee contest was held in 2013 at our school Colegio San Ignacio Alonso Ovalle with students from this school contending against each other for the first, second and third places. 

Two years later, in 2015, a major milestone was passed as Colegio San Ignacio El Bosque decided to join the competition. Since then, the contest has become an important tradition of the two schools and an enriching experience for everyone involved.

In 2020, at the height of the pandemic and amidst ongoing lockdowns, another important achievement was made as we decided to organise the whole contest online. It was a real challenge to coordinate all the work, but thanks to the commitment of all those involved, it became a success. 

However, it was not until 2021 that the contest became an international event when Liceo Javier from Guatemala joined the Online Spelling Bee. 

In 2022, we received yet another companion, Colegio San Mateo from Osorno in the south of Chile.
