I have practiced speech language pathology in public schools for 23 years. I am excited to begin my 24th year! I am a graduate of Leach School, Oaks High School, the University of Oklahoma and Northeastern State University. I worked for a rehabilitation company in Tulsa for the first five years of my career (1994-1999). In August of 1999, I moved back to my hometown of Leach and have worked in public schools ever since. The nature of the field of speech language pathology often involves traveling from one work site to another each week. I have worked in several area schools, including Moseley, Leach, Watts, Skelly, Kenwood, Salina and Oaks Public Schools during my career. This is my fourth year to provide services at Colcord Schools and for the past three years I have worked here only, not traveling to other schools. I am fortunate to work here with an exceptional speech language pathologist, Mr. Kelby Jones. We are both currently providing speech services to Colcord Elementary, Middle School, High School and Grand Head Start (Colcord School). Among other duties, Kelby's wife, Kenzi, is a paraprofessional in the speech classroom in the elementary building. She is really great and keeps us organized and prepared for our therapy sessions and paperwork obligations.
I and my husband Tom have been married for 23 years. My niece, Annette, who is now 32 years old, came to live in our home when she was 12 years old. We raised a daughter, Taylor, who is now 19 years old and is a sophomore in college. My husband and I live in my childhood home in Leach! Taylor and I are active at the First Baptist Church of Leach. When Taylor is home from college, she sings with the worship team. I teach children's classes. Tom works for Windstream Telecommunications and is the the Fire Chief of the Leach Volunteer Fire Department. He also performs office duties for the Rural Water District #11. I truly enjoy living and working in rural areas, where you are surrounded by friends and neighbors. I am very grateful to be a part of this school district and this community here at Colcord. My students are wonderful and truly provide me with a smile and motivation each day. You can't ask for better than that. Go Hornets!
