A little bit about me…
I grew up and graduated from Jay, OK. I may have graduated a Bulldog, but my heart is with the Hornets! I married my high school sweetheart and we have four children. I have degrees in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and Reading Specialist. I am an earring wearing, pun producing, dark chocolate eating, coffee and tea drinking lover of cats, books, family time, and Scotland. I own a snake (*ahem* he lives in my classroom), two cats, and I just recently adopted some fish. I have a passion and love for the Science of Reading and still get chills when thinking about meeting and teaching my new students every year.
Let's Chat...
Not every student learns best by sitting quietly, reading independently, and answering questions on computers or on paper. While we will practice with those strategies, be ready to use several different techniques, strategies, and activities that will highlight several different learning styles at one time. You may not like all of them, however, the peer next to you may learn best with the one you like the least. Having a S.W.A.R.M. culture means working together to make sure everyone is met exactly where they are and how they learn best. Don’t know what a S.W.A.R.M. culture is? Just keep reading!
