Giuseppe

Giuseppe Caniparoli was born January 25, 1887 in the village of Civago in the municipality of Villa Minnozzo in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

He and Marie Ugoletti became the parents of a son named Abe Abramo on March 19, 1908.

The decision was made for Giuseppe to travel to the United States.

Marie was pregnant when Giuseppe left and gave birth to a daughter named Enid Mary on August 21, 1910, at Genoa, Italy.

Marie arrived early in 1912. A daughter named Clara Rose was born on December 16, 1912,

and a son named George was born on July 18, 1916. At the time Joseph and Mary were living in the Yankton area of Columbia County.

When Giuseppe registered for the draft in June 1917, the Caniparolis were living in the Yankton area. He was working for the Milton Creek Logging Camp and was described as being short, with a medium build, brown eyes and dark hair.

In 1920 the family lived in Houlton next to fellow Italians, Costanzo and Pauline Negro. Joseph was recorded as being a laborer at a rocky quarry. All of the family could speak English at the time.

Marie died in Columbia County on May 12, 1924.

In 1930, the "Joe" was living on the Bachelor Flat-Houlton Rd. Also living at home at the time were Enid (20), Clara (17) and George (13).

Enid married Louis Tosi 18 Jul 1931 in Colco.

Abe married Angeline on 23 Aug 1931. They became the parents of Evelyn Mary in 1933.

George graduated 1934, SHHS


Clara md. Joseph G. Romani on 31 Oct 1935 in Colco.

Enid and Louis had Ronald in 1937, Mary Louise in 1943.

Clara had Marilyn Agnes about 1938.

George enlisted in the Army during WW2 on 14 Mar 1942 and was discharged 17 Jan 1946.

Son George was married on October 12, 1947 in Portland to Flora M. Oliver. Flora was also the daughter of Italian immigrants.

Son-in-law Joseph Romani died 1967.

Joseph died on October 19, 1969 in Portland.
