Head Coach Jeremy Hammond- I have been involved in track and field since the spring of 1990 and have spent more than half my life either competing or coaching. I started coaching during the spring of my senior year in college while student-teaching at BFA St Albans. Since then, I have coached at Winooski (1 year) and Essex (16 years) where I was the head coach of the boy's team for 11 years. This is my 6th season at CHS and my first as head coach. My area of specialty is the throwing events.
Heather Garrow- My competitive track and field journey started in middle school and continued through college at UVM. In high school I competed in the 100 Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Shot Put, and the Heptathlon. I continued in those same events in college until suffering an ACL tear. After my recovery I took up the 20lb Weight and the Hammer, earning All -Conference honors in both as a junior and a senior. I began my Track and Field coaching career as the Shot Put and Discus coach at EHS, and then a few years later, I made the change to High, Long, and Triple Jump coach. I have been retired from track and field coaching for 15 years, but I am excited to be back and look forward to working with the talented athletes of CHS.
Marc Gagne-I have been in the track and field wold as far back as 2000 when I joined my first high school track team. Back then, I was mainly interested in mid-distance and jumping events. Now, as a coach, I focus most of my energy on coaching jumpers in the long, triple, and high jumps. I have been coaching track and field for 14 years, nine of those at the high school level in Colchester.
Sara Scarbaci- I am a Colchester High School graduate and participated in Track and Field during that time as a hurdler and 400m runner. I have been coaching for 8 years with the sprinters and hurdlers. As a physical therapist and athletic trainer, I also have knowledge of how to properly condition bodies for anaerobic exercise for our sprinters and hurdlers.
Danielle Simon-Cheney- I have been a distance runner for 20 years, starting at Milton High School. I continued to compete at UVM for the Cross Country (4 years) and Track (1.5 years) teams, specializing in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters. Since college I have continued training and racing everything from the mile to the marathon. I coached Track and Cross Country at Washington Latin PCS from 2012-2015. This is my third year working with the distance runners on the CHS track team and I look forward to sharing my passion with CHS athletes!
Mike Landsberg- I have worked with CHS Athletes for 29 years, spending the first 15 of them as the school's Athletic Trainer. Upon stepping down from that position, I was approached by one of the CHS coaches about coaching the sprints and hurdles. As a former football and baseball player, nothing seemed more unnatural to me at the time, so it was an easy yes when I accepted the offer. Now entering my 14th season coaching, I continue to be passionate about working with CHS student-athletes. I utilize my background as an Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Specialist in my coaching to help the athletes reach their potential on the track.
George Deane- I'm into my third decade of Track and Field as an athlete or as a coach. I competed in distance events throughout high school and college running distances from the 400m up. I've coached as an assistant and head coach for SBHS as well as for Colchester. Recently I've taken some time away from coaching to focus on my own running and raise my two young daughters, but I'm excited to get back into the mix and help folks reach their potential.
Sean MacArdle- After leaving the lacrosse field in 10th grade, I joined the cross country, indoor and outdoor track teams at my high school in Pennsylvania. I competed in many middle distance events, but focused mainly on the 400, 800, and 1600 meter distances. My running these days consists of longer distances including half marathons and marathons, as well as mountain running, which I really enjoy! Over the past three years I coached the Colchester Middle School cross country and track and field teams, and had a lot of fun doing so. I'm excited to help with the distance crew here at CHS!
