The 2022 volleyball season is underway under first year head coach, Shelby Mosier. Coach Mosier comes to CHS after serving as the assistant coach for the Colby Community College Lady Trojans.
"I think our team's biggest strengths lie in our offense and our level of competitiveness!”
Mosier feels that they have several girls that desire to win and, just as important, want to get better. As with starting any new position, there are some different variables that she needs to get used to, especially moving from the two-year level to the high school level.
“The hardest this is getting used to having 38 girls in the gym versus 14 that I was used to at the college. Having to plan practices and making sure it’s something that we can all do to get better has been the hardest thing!"
The Lady Eagles have a competitive schedule this year that has them facing teams that range in size from 2A to 6A.

Girls tennis season has officially started. They held a car wash on August 21st, which they have done every year for the tennis program. It helps pay for any extra expenses that the team incurs while traveling to tournaments. It also helps purchase some tennis gear for the team.
"The car wash is a great way for the team to pay for their t-shirts and sweatshirts every year," Coach Wendy Weishaar commented.
As for meets, the first varsity meet was in Phillipsburg on August 30th, and then the JV plays in Phillipsburg on September 1st. Additionally, the varsity also has a meet in Larned on September 1st.
There is a home varsity meet in Colby, on Sep 3rd starting at 10:00 am. According to Coach Weishaar it will be a five team round robin and the team has some momentum coming off of their first place finish in Phillipsburg on August 30th.
As with any team, they would like the community’s support for their home tournament.
"Come by for a while and sit and see how the game is played," she said.
The girls and coaches seem super excited for this upcoming season and for what they have the potential to accomplish.
