Claire E. Robertson, PhD
Assistant Professor of Psychology
I am an Assistant Professor at Colby College. I received my PhD in Social Psychology from New York University in 2024. Before that, I received my B.A. from Kenyon College, where my love of liberal arts colleges was born.
My research focuses on the causes and consequences of political polarization and extremism. I'm especially interested in the ways technology, morality and emotion exacerbate political conflict, and how we can use education to improve political communication.

Below, I’ve included a link to application materials from each of my different career stages. As you can see, the materials changed quite a bit as I moved from one phase of my academic life to another.
It’s very easy to forget that someone who is now a full professor or a department chair was once applying to graduate school -- that's why I've kept my nametags from each stage of my journey, and display them proudly in my office.
I hope that these materials show a more complete narrative of academic growth over (a very long) time!
