Mr. Orman began teaching at CCHS in 2019. The 2024-2025 school year will be Mr. Orman’s 42nd year in the classroom. He has university degrees with specialties in History, Theatre, and Forensic Speech. In addition, he has earned 2 Master’s Degrees (in Elementary Education and in Educational Leadership). In his years in the classroom, he has taught every grade from 2-12 inclusively. While teaching in public schools has been his main career choice, he has taught children in private academies and children in schools where almost all were military dependents.
He has been a member, leader, and a teacher advocate for teachers in 3 states, representing teachers on the local, statewide levels, and at national meetings of the National Education Association for well over 20 years. He has mentored student teachers from several universities in Middle Tennessee and North Alabama.
He has 3 grown children (a son and 2 daughters) and 2 granddaughters. He is active in his church and after completing a 2-year study of the Bible will enter a 3rd year of study of the history of the Christian Church through enrollment in classes through The University of the South at Swanee. He is currently on the pathway of becoming seminarian in the fall of 2024.
He calls Tuscumbia, Alabama home. He is active in local community projects for the Historic Landmarks group and for Belmont. He is a past president of an historic site (The Columbia Athenaeum) owned by Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities, he is the founding president of a nonprofit organization based in Tennessee which works to preserve cultural and architectural traditions from our nation’s history. His hobbies include church work, historic foundations/projects, and attending educational workshops and related activities.
