Counseling Services

Classroom Lesson

Students will receive large group counseling as needed through classroom lessons and blended online formats. These lessons will cover topics such as self-esteem, goal planning, study skills, student safety, college and career preparedness, and requested topics. These lessons will meet based on need and COVID-19 safety guidelines

Small Groups

Small groups will meet regularly and grouped based on the topic. Small groups can focus on students dealing with similar issues or upcoming tasks. These groups will meet based on need and COVID-19 safety guidelines.

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling will be available to assist students with issues that include emotional control, social skills, and academic management. These sessions will be conducted based on request and COVID-19 safety guidelines

All students at Colbert County High School have access to the counseling program provided by the school counselor. TheColbert County High School Counseling and Guidance Plan is based on the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) Model.

Colbert County Schools also partners with several outside agencies:

  • Riverbend Center for Mental Health provides an In-School Therapist who is on our campus one day a week to see students who qualify for these specialized services.

  • The Healing Place provides small group counseling once a month for students coping with grief and loss.

  • Safe - Place provides good-touch bad-touch lessons to our students annually and meets the requirements set forth in Erin's Law for student safety.
