Orosi High School offers a variety of courses that are aligned to College of Sequoias, Reedley College, and Fresno City College classes, giving Orosi High School students the opportunity to receive college credit and high school credit simultaneously. The Dual Enrollment Program allows high school students the opportunity to enroll in college-level courses for credit prior to high school graduation. Dual enrollment courses are offered, during the regular school day and by a qualified high school instructor and/or a visiting faculty. Some college credit earned can fulfill high school graduation requirements, transfer to most colleges and universities, and be applied towards the fulfillment of associate degrees and certificates. Participating in this program can ease the transition from high school to college and encourage students to keep pursuing post-secondary education. Upon completion of the course, the students will receive a community college transcript with the grade and units of the Dual Enrollment course.
Dual Enrollment Student Requirements
Student must have a cumulative high school GPA of at least a 2.5.+
Must complete the community college application for Admission
No More than 5 unexcused absences in prior semester
Obtain approval from the high school principal, a high school counselor, and a parent.
Student must have a good discipline record
Final Teacher Approval and Recommendation if any of the above requirements are not met
Dual Enrollment is an opportunity to take challenging courses and accelerate educational opportunities
Participation in Dual Enrollment may ease the transition from high school to college by giving students a sense of what college academics are like
Students do not have to go off-site to take the Dual Enrollment classes
Dual Enrollment is a cost-efficient way for students to accumulate college credits
Dual Enrollment courses are paid for and are taken on campus
Most Dual Enrollment classes count towards general education college credits and graduation requirements in high school
