About Mr. Driskell and Ms. Ana

Jon Driskell

I am excited to be in Cartagena and to join the Cojowa community! My wife, Annie Driskell, is also here and teaches 5th grade writing at Cojowa.

I grew up in the birthplace of Rock and Roll, Memphis, Tennessee as well as in California and Alabama. I returned to Memphis where I received my Bachelor's in Sociology before moving to New Mexico to begin teaching. I met my wife, Annie, there and we moved to Nashville, Tennessee where I founded and led a charter school called Explore! Community School.

When I am not teaching, enjoy reading and traveling, and I try to spend as much time as possible outdoors. I enjoy hiking, camping, and, especially, riding my bicycle. I avidly follow professional cycling and I'm a big fan of los escarabajos!

I'm looking forward to many adventures in Colombia and leading the students of class 2A to great experiences and achievements this year!

Ana Montes

My name in Ana Montes I’m 22 years old. I’m from a little town of Córdoba called Chinú but I moved to Cartagena 7 years ago to study. I got my degree in Foreign Languages from the University of Cartagena and I speak Spanish, English, and French. I started working in Colegio Jorge Washington in 2017.

When I’m not in school my passions are reading, writing, dancing, and baking. I love to read to children so I also go to Manzanillo to read and teach reading to the children there.

I’m really excited for being in second grade this year and to help the children to give their best of themselves.
