Hello, and welcome! I'm Anita McDow, and I have the privilege of serving as the Special Education Director at Cogito. I truly believe that every child deserves to feel valued, supported, and empowered to reach their fullest potential. It is an honor to work alongside our dedicated teachers, staff, and families to create meaningful opportunities for student success.
I am a graduate of Grand Canyon University, where I earned bachelor's degrees in Special Education (Multi-Categorical K–12) and Elementary Education. I also hold a master's degree in Autism Spectrum Disorder. Over the past 22 years, I have dedicated my career to special education, serving students with diverse learning needs and supporting educators and families in helping every child succeed. My passion is ensuring that each student receives the individualized support, encouragement, and opportunities they need to reach their fullest potential.
When I'm not at school, you'll find me at home on our farm in the Buford community of Lancaster with my husband, George. We have two amazing daughters, Anslee and Maggie, who are both married, and our family has been blessed with a precious granddaughter, Charlie, who keeps us smiling.
I enjoy spending time outdoors, working in the yard, caring for our animals, curling up with a good book, and traveling with my family whenever we have the opportunity. These moments remind me of the importance of slowing down, making memories, and appreciating life's simple blessings.
I look forward to getting to know our students and families and working together to make this a wonderful school year. My door is always open, and I am grateful to be part of the Cogito family.
