Welcome to My Teacher Page!

Hello and welcome! My name is Gena Rogers, and I am so excited to be your child's Reading Interventionist this school year! This is my 20th year in education, and I truly love helping students discover the joy of learning while building the confidence they need to become successful readers.

My teaching journey has been an incredible adventure! I began my career at Discovery School, where I spent nine wonderful years teaching kindergarten and second grade. I then joined Clinton Elementary, where I taught third grade for six years before serving as the K–5 Interventionist for three years. Last year, I had the pleasure of teaching first grade here at Cogito Academy, and I am thrilled to return to my passion for intervention, helping students strengthen their reading skills and achieve their personal best.

When I'm not at school, my family keeps me busy! I come from a very large family—I am one of 14 children—so I have always believed that family is one of life's greatest blessings. Because of that, I value strong partnerships between home and school and believe families play an important role in every child's educational journey.

Before becoming a teacher, I proudly served in the U.S. Army. My time in the military gave me the opportunity to serve our country, travel the world, and experience different cultures and people. Those experiences helped shape the person and educator I am today.

I am also the proud mom of two amazing daughters, Danni and Kylie, who are truly my heart and soul. 🥰

If you know me, you also know that I absolutely love animals! My home is filled with furry family members, including 2 cats, 2 pit mix pups, and 8 dachshunds. I also have a labradoodle grand pup that visits and spends time with me. They definitely keep life fun, busy, and full of laughter!

During the summer, you'll usually find me making memories in Florida with my youngest sister. We love spending time together exploring everything the Sunshine State has to offer. Some of my favorite adventures include deep-sea fishing, kayaking through Florida's beautiful crystal-clear springs, relaxing by the water, and enjoying all the fun outdoor activities that make summer so special.
