Lowell's Voting Rights Lawsuit

This Google Site contains a series of primary and secondary sources about a 2017 lawsuit that alleged the lack of diversity on the city's council and school board were caused by the use of an at-large plurality voting system, an electoral strategy struck down by a number of previous court cases.

Each page consists of a contextual paragraph that provides background information for the document(s) and excerpts from one or more primary documents. Some of the documents have been edited for length. As you analyze the documents, consider both the original source and its author’s point of view.
