Sto Rox CoderDojo is a volunteer run club for young (and young at heart) individuals who are interested in learning to code or sharing their knowledge and expertise with others. We are currently meeting in a virtual format but we do have a physical location in the Father Ryan Arts Center and may move to a more hybrid model for the next school year. The virtual model is here to stay as we have made some amazing connections and if you have not checked out the discord channel please do!! It is an awesome platform for connecting and coding anytime you like.
Current club co-coordinators are:

Welcome. I am a veteran math teacher with 24 years teaching experience. For the last 5 years I have been tinkering with teaching Computer Science and was one of the first cohort of Pennsylvania Teachers to earn their Computer Science Teaching Certification in Pennsylvania in February of 2021. The neatest thing about learning to teach Computer Science is its ever evolving nature. It has been very reinvigorating to my career. I still consider myself a novice programmer but I enjoy learning, creating and discussing it with others.
I live on the wonderful Northside of Pittsburgh, in Marshall Shadeland, where I am involved in my local community group. I like to meet my neighbors and work to make our city a better place for all to live. The diversity of our community is such a nice part of city living.
I was born and raised in rural Somerset County (near the flight 93 crash site) and have been living in Pittsburgh for the last 25 years. I do have a weekend retreat in Somerset where I find nature and solitude very rejuvenating. Other than coding I enjoy riding ATV, lifting weights, spending time with my Basset Hounds, Bert and Benny, riding bicycle and volunteer work.

Hello there, James here. I'm a mostly self-taught programmer via youtube and playing around with coding. My main languages used lately are Python, C, and Lua, with some experience in Java. I’m currently working on a couple games in Roblox and am learning A.I. in Python. Currently working with 2d simple predictions and a voice-interactive code with the help of pyaudio, pyttsx3, and speech_recognition modules. I am also host of a discord server open to new coders and volunteers to help teach, for the moment focused on lua and python but open to learning whatever the members wish to learn. It provides a great environment to ask questions or get assistance with learning new codes or techniques to work on our own projects.
Currently my official education includes graduation from South County High School in Virginia as well as computer training from the U.S. Army in introductory cybersecurity, including graduating the Joint Cyber Analytics Course (JCAC) in Pensacola. My interest in programming is largely for game and A.I. development. I am also interested in getting into virtual reality and simulation development.
My goal is to make games with realistic NPCs and un-set stories, where the setting is set at the beginning but what happens for the rest of the game depends on what the players do and/or what the NPCs do. Focusing not only on what they accomplish/don't accomplish but also how they accomplish/don't accomplish it. Making a more immersive experience in a game you can play many times and still tell a new story each time. In other words, creating the ultimate RPG in the most immersive way possible.
