Welcome to 5th grade ELA!

In this class, we work together to improve our skills, no matter where we start. We believe the word “can’t” is not part of our vocabulary, because we are all capable of more than we think. Our motto is: If you know something today that you didn’t know yesterday, you are on the right track! In this classroom, we also take responsibility for our learning and choices, and we practice self-reflection to help us grow into confident, independent learners.

About Your Teacher

Hello! My name is Rikki Johnson, and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year!
This is my 5th year teaching in Coldspring and my very second year in 5th grade. I have three wonderful boys of my own—Alex (18), Hudson (11), and Evin (10). Alex will be attending A&M in the fall, majoring in Engineering. Hudson will be starting at LJH and Evin will be in 5th. They always have me running and going.

Outside of school, I volunteer at our local church on Wednesday nights and am always volunteering with one of my kiddos' activities. I also love any opportunity to be creative and enjoy curling up with a good book whenever I can.

I am truly looking forward to seeing what this school year holds and all that we will accomplish together. If you ever have any questions or concerns about your student, please don’t hesitate to reach out—I believe in working as a team to support their success.
