Hello! My name is Aliah Sykes, and I am excited to be teaching 5th grade math at Coldspring Intermediate, where I am proud to be back home continuing my own educational journey. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Sam Houston State University, and I have been teaching for the last five years, with experience in 8th, 7th, and now 5th grade math. In addition to teaching, I also coach at the Jr. High.

My teaching philosophy centers around creating an engaging and supportive environment where students feel encouraged to explore and understand math in a way that makes sense to them. I believe in fostering a positive learning atmosphere where all students are actively engaged and can thrive through hands-on activities and real-world connections. 

Outside the classroom, I am a proud mother to a 2-year-old son, Jay’Ce, who keeps me busy. When I am not spending time with my family, I enjoy supporting my nieces and nephews in their extracurricular activities. I’m always happy to collaborate with students and parents to ensure everyone’s success!
