Production

We help arrange your composition, and suggest changes to instrumentation, effects, and lyrics. In general, we will help by overseeing the songwriting, arrangement and recording processes. During the mixing, mastering, and recording phases, we guide the engineers involved to get the best possible results.

Recording

From recording a bass direct, to an entire band live, we have the knowledge and know-how to capture the performance in the best possible quality. Three different rooms provide live recording isolation. Each room is sonically treated for the particular instrument being recorded. Whether it’s a drumset, or micing a guitar amp in an isolation room, we have the facility and gear to make it happen.

Editing

Editing is done after recording in ProTools. Editing allows the engineer to fix bad notes, unwanted noises, and or vocalist breaths. The arrangement of a song can also be changed through the editing process. Editing can be time consuming, but in the end the result is a cleaner, tighter, more professional mix.

Mixing

We can take tracks from most all DAWs, import them into ProTools, and provide a final mix ready for mastering. We do all mixing in the box using a large variety of software plugins, so all settings are saved so that projects can be resumed quickly, and exactly where they left off. During the mixing process we find ideal location for each instrument in frequency, pan, and level domains. This is what we strive for to achieve the best possible fidelity in your mix.

Mastering

We can master your songs so they are ready for both CD and digital distribution services. The mastering process compresses, limits, and EQ the tracks as a whole so that all tracks coherently sound similar and as professional as possible. Unique ISRC codes are generated an inserted in each mastered wav file.

Format Conversion

We can convert old ADAT multitrack audio tapes (16 bit/48Khz) directly to ProTools or individual wav files. The conversion is done synchronously across multiple tapes. We can also convert from older software packages like Cool Edit Pro into wav and or ProTools. We can also digitize analog cassette tapes into high quality wav/mp3 files.

Guitar Amp Profiling

We take your favorite guitar amp and place it in our isolation room. We then mic the amp correctly with a variety of mics. Using the Kemper Profiler we create a model (profile) of your amp for archival or performance.

Session Video Recording

During your session we can record video and provide that to you after the session. Video editing services are also available through Coastal Sound Studio
