Tomi Adeyemi
She is a 30 year old author. She went to college at Harvard University and graduated with honors in English Literature. She received a fellowship to study West African mythology and religion and culture in Salvador, Brazil.
Early Life
She was born August 1, 1993 in the United States. She was raised in Chicago by parents who emigrated from Nigeria. She descended from Yoruba Heritage, but she was not raised learning about her culture. Her father was a physician in Nigeria, but he was a taxi driver after moving to the US while waiting for his qualifications to transfer. Her mother worked as a cleaning lady. She graduated from Hinsdale Central High School class of 2011.
Professional Life
She went to Harvard University and graduated with a degree in English Literature. She went on to get a fellowship to study West African Mythology, religion, and culture in Salvador, Brazil. She began to teach creative writing courses through her online site The Writer's Roadmap. Both the first and second books of the Legacy of OrÏsha Series placed #1 on New York Times bestseller list. She also has her series being turned into a film. It is being worked on right now. In 2020, she was named Forbe's 30 under 30, and her website was listed in the top 101 Best Websites for Writers by Writer's Digest.
Legacy of OrÏsha Series
This series was inspired by the Yoruba religion of West Africa, the suppression of black people, and many other things. This series was made to bring light to certain issues and to inspire a change.
