Elliot Santavicca - spring 2020 - alternative printing processes in photography

This photo series is a compilation of images made while in quarantine during the spring of 2020. These images were created using different alternative photographic/printing processes: black and white film photography using caffenol, cyanotype prints, van dyke brown prints, and van dyke blue prints.

I was confined to my very small house and shed with an almost nonexistent budget for materials. Due to the stay at home order, I was unable to photograph anyone but myself and my partner. This forced me to become comfortable with self-portraiture, which I had never explored before. I was tasked with learning these three different processes on my own, and figuring out how to afford all of the materials I needed. Some of the many experimental images I was able to create throughout those ten weeks are included here.
