Frequently Asked Questions

What is Code Ninjas?

We teach kids coding and STEM skills using the games they love. Code Ninjas® is the world’s largest and fastest-growing kids coding franchise, with hundreds of locations in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Our goal is to create the problem solvers of tomorrow. At our centers, kids ages 5-14 learn to code while building their own video games in a fun, safe, and inspiring environment. Kids gain confidence, logic, resourcefulness, and problem solving skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.

What ages does Code Ninjas teach?

At Code Ninjas, we have programs for kids ages 5-14. Our JR program serves kids ages 5-7 in small classes once a week during school nights and on Saturdays. Our CREATE program serves kids ages 7-14 with a drop-in program where you can drop off your ninja at our center any time we are open, Monday through Saturday.

Do you have classes? How does it work?

We have a variety of programs to fit Code Ninjas into your busy schedule. Our JR program for kids ages 5-7 is structured in a class format with classes once a week. In the Code Ninjas CREATE program, there are no classes - just drop-in at your convenience during available center hours. No need to call ahead! Kids can attend multiple times a week, up to two hours every week with our standard plan.

When kids walk in, they scan their wristband to sign into their Code Ninjas account where they have access to our coding curriculum. As they progress from white belt to black belt, kids submit their coding creations for grading and receive feedback from our Code Senseis that are always on staff to support your ninjas!

What's in the Code Ninjas curriculum?

Our curriculum teaches kids to code as they build their own games in Scratch, ScratchJr, JavaScript, C#, and more. They are not just passively playing games – they are building games – and have a great time doing it. In Code Ninjas CREATE, the curriculum is divided into levels, from white to black belt, that kids advance through as they build their coding skills.

Why should my kids learn to code?

Coding has been called "the literacy of the 21st century” for good reason. Just like math, science, and literature, coding is a key aspect of understanding our technologically advanced world. There’s a huge need for a generation that not only understands how to use technology, but also understands how it works. Regardless of whether your kids one day pursue a career in coding, Code Ninjas teaches them confidence, logic, resourcefulness, and problem solving skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.

My kids already have computer classes at school. Why do they need Code Ninjas?

It’s great that schools offer computer education, but they are often under-resourced and are unable to offer the sophisticated ongoing coding curriculum that kids need. Parents who want their kids to get ahead and learn coding properly are turning to Code Ninjas.

Does my kid need to bring their own devices?

No need to bring any tech to our center! We have dozens of laptops, monitors, tablets, robotics kits, snap circuits, and even a 3D printer on site for your child to use and explore.

Do I have to stay and wait while my kid is at Code Ninjas?

No need to stay while your ninja is in the dojo (learning area), however, we do provide a beautiful waiting area for parents where you can relax while your ninja is inside. While we do not allow parents inside the dojo space, there are windows for you to view your child from the waiting area.

What is your mask policy?

Code Ninjas Mount Kisco will continue to require masks while on premises for both ninjas and staff. We serve kids ages 5-14, most of whom are unvaccinated, and we want to ensure their safety in our dojo. Additionally, our space is equipped with excellent air filtration systems, regularly cleaned by professionals, and all tech and work spaces are sanitized before and after ninja use.
