I have concerns with or about a roommate

If you live on campus, your best resource is to share your concerns with your RA or, if you'd prefer, the Hall Director in your building. You can simply email or call to set up a time to talk about what's been going on that has you concerned. Residence Life staff can offer support to individual students as well as help with communication difficulties or conflict resolution between roommates. Even if your roommate has indicated they aren't inclined to seek support, sometimes just knowing their RA is thinking of them and taking the time to check in with them can be a comfort, as well as a motivator to seek further help. The contact information for the Hall Director of each residence hall is listed here.

If you are worried about how you can support your roommate, or if there is a roommate conflict or communication problems, you might also consider making an appointment for yourself to speak with a counselor at CNU's Office of Counseling Services. The Office of Counseling Services is a free and confidential resource for students located in the Freeman Center. They can help you come up with a plan for how to address the situation with your roommate. The counseling center also can reach out to your roommate to ask if they would like to meet. The counseling center would not disclose that you were the person who expressed concern.

They are available for appointments during business hours M-F. It's easy to set up an appointment to meet with a counselor-- just call 757-594-7047 or even walk in. You can learn more about the Office of Counseling Services here.
