Principle of OEDO

OEDO is the acronym of "Optics for Energy Degrad RI-beam Optics". To open the new resaerch field of the radioactive isotope beams of around A~100 and ~ 10 MeV/nuclon, the radio frequency deflector and the special optics realized by two super conducting magnts can squeeze the horizontal beam spot size, allowing us to measure the low-energy reactions such as the trasnfer and fusion reactions with the mid-heavy radioactive isotope beams.

Report by TAC

A review of the OEDO was conducted by the international technical advisory committee. The reviewers were Prof. Hans Geissel (GSI), Prof. Jerry A. Nolen (ANL), and Prof. Wolfgang Mittig (MSU). They reviewed the OEDO mainly from the technical point of view, particularly on the principle of focusing the beams diverged by the multiple scattering by employing the RF deflector. The review was held by e-mail on Sep. in 2015. The material used for the review can be found here. Based on the comments of the reviewers, we started ordering the RFD and STQ after some modification of the design.
