Tier 2
Activity 1
Labeled Cell Graphics Added to Google Portfolio Website
By the end of this activity, I will be able to:
- describe and identify the main organelles within a cell.
Details & Instructions:
- The buttons to the right are linked to the two types of cells, animal and plant.
- Download each graphic to your computer then post them on your Google Portfolio Site.
- Next to each graphic, provide the name and function (job) of the organelle that corresponds to each number.
Be sure to publish your site once you are done with your work.
- Estimated Time: 30 minutes
- Score:
- Possible 20 points.
- Complete and turn in link to website through Google Classroom.
Activity 2
How Does a Cell Compare to Your School? Or an Amusement Park?
By the end of this activity, I will be able to:
- describe the function of the main organelles within a cell.
- Provide data to support a claim.
Details & Instructions:
- Select one of the two options to the right, School or Amusement Park.
- A Cell as a School:
- Look at the map of our high school. There are specific places/rooms in the school that serve a similar purpose as some of the organelles found in a cell.
- Label each of the locations in the school with the name of the cell organelle that best represents it and why you chose that organelle
- A Cell as an Amusement Park:
- The sheet has a list of jobs and departments found within an amusement park such as King's Island and Six Flags. Beside each of the jobs and departments is a brief explanation of what they are responsible to do.
- Decide which of the organelles found within a cell best matches the description of the job or department. Also, provide a reason why you selected that organelle for that job or department.
- Estimated Time: 30 minutes
- Score:
- Possible 20 points.
- Complete and turn in through Google Classroom.
Activity 3
Concepts Quiz
By the end of this activity, I will be able to:

- explain the cell theory and how it has changed over time.
Details & Instructions:
- Complete the quiz on Edulastic. Be sure to take your time and do a good job.
- The quiz covers:
- Cell theory
- Prokaryotic vs Eukaryotic cells
