GRADING

Your grade will be based upon the following elements: Your level of participation and working with others, your effort to improve your skills, tracking abilities of personal fitness levels, knowledge of rules and strategies, written work, and test scores. This includes: cooperation, attitude, respect for others, teamwork, and sportsmanship.  The standard grading scale will be used.

60%  Daily Points – 3 Points Per Day

1-3 points can be deducted for NOT being on time to class, completing the warm with effort, disrupting the class/talking, following directions and prepared for class, this includes having correct footwear.

1-3 points can be deducted for NOT participating and showing effort. Students are expected to participate to the best of their ability every day. I understand that there are days where this looks different.

1-3 points can be deducted for not displaying good sportsmanship. This includes being respectful and having a good attitude toward the teacher and all classmates.

20% Assignments/Assessments/Health

This component of your grade will be based upon written assignments and assessments given during a unit. Health assignments and assessments will be put in this category as well.

20% of Semester Grade

Final Exam- given at the end of the semester, an accumulative test of what has been covered in all units.

Missing Work/Late Assignments

Late assignments are accepted, with a 30% penalty, as long as it is turned in before finals week. At the start of finals week, late work will no longer be accepted and it will go in as a zero in the gradebook. It is also the students responsibility to email me, telling me they have turned in the late assignment so I can grade it.

Illness/Injury

The expectation is that every student participates to the best of their ability each day, modifications may be made with the teacher to find a workable solution. Doctor's or parent notes will excused the student from participating in class. If there is no note the student will have to do the best they can.

What to bring:

Students provide their own PE clothing if they choose to change for class. Mark all of your clothing with your name.  All clothing worn for PE class must comply with the district dress code. It is suggested to bring clothes specifically for PE when we are outside so that if you do get muddy you are not in them for the rest of the day.

PE Clothing Requirements:

* You MUST have the correct footwear in PE every day even if you do not change. This can be any shoe similar to a tennis shoe that covers your entire foot.

*Personal items such as deodorant, hair ties, a brush and hygiene items can be kept in your locker.  Perfume or body spray must be in plastic containers.

***No glass in the locker room!!!

*Lock your locker at all times.  Label and lock up everything you value.  Do not give your combination to anyone.

***Additional PE Reminders***

Harassment or bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.  You may not leave class without permission.  Take care of personal needs before class.  Food and drink are not allowed in the gym or locker room (water bottles are acceptable).  All activities in the gym must be supervised.  PE will follow the discipline procedures of Cheyenne Mountain Jr. High.
