Family and Consumer Sciences

Family and Consumer Sciences courses at Center Moriches covers a broad spectrum of topics!  Mrs. Voelger teaches at the Middle School and High School levels. High School courses include topics such as: Culinary, Food & Culture, Careers in Design, and Tourism & Hospitality.

Middle School - Grade 6

Sixth graders take FACS everyday for their entire 6th grade year!  Students work all year building their "adulting" tool belt with Mrs. Voelger.  While you can’t see this tool belt, all adults own one!  These tools and skills will help students make smart decisions and be successful and INDEPENDENT. Topics include: Personal Development, Child Development, Babysitting, Nutrition, Kitchen & Food Safety, Cooking, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Color Theory and Home & Careers. 

Middle School - Grade 6/7/8

Students that qualify take Consumer Sciences in grade 6, 7 & 8 every day. This course fulfils students technology, consumer science and health electives in a smaller setting. This class is a blend of students and might be repeated as needed.
