Design courses at Center Moriches covers a broad spectrum of topics and are in alignment with Family & Consumer Sciences Curriculum! Mrs. Voelger teaches at the Middle School and High School levels. High School courses include topics such as: Culinary, Food & Culture, Careers in Design, and Tourism & Hospitality.
Most sixth graders take Design everyday for their entire 6th grade year! Students work all year building their "adulting" tool belt with Mrs. Voelger. While you can’t see this tool belt, all adults own one! These tools and skills will help students make smart decisions and be successful and INDEPENDENT. Topics include: Personal Development, Child Development, Babysitting, Nutrition, Kitchen & Food Safety, Cooking, Fashion Design, Interior Design, Color Theory and Home & Careers.
Students that take Consumer Sciences might be place in this blended class in grades 6, 7 & 8 which meets every other day. This class fulfils students technology, consumer science and health electives in a smaller setting. This blended class might be taken for 1, 2, or 3 years depending on a students schedule.
