Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year!
My name is Guang Yang (students always call me Yang Laoshi), your child’s first grade teacher. I would like to begin by thanking you for sharing your precious child with me. I promise that I will not only teach but love, nurture and take care of each of them. I feel very blessed to have this opportunity to work with you and your precious child. I am looking forward to working together with you to make 1st grade a pleasant and successful experience for your child. I intend to provide a nurturing but rigorous learning environment based on mutual respect and hard work. I ask my students to be the best they can be, never give up, and to always have great self-confidence. I have high expectations for my students. I’m looking forward to maintaining an open and respectful relationship with you as well, allowing us to address any academic or behavioral needs as they arise. I am committed to providing your child with anything and everything he/she needs to succeed.
At this time, I would like to let you know some important things as follows:
1. There is a behavior calendar in your child’s communication folder. Please make sure that you are checking your child's communication folder and signing the sheet DAILY. Reinforce any color changes at home. The purpose of this process is to provide an opportunity for the parents to walk through the issues and execute positive reinforcements at home. I do hope that parents take this seriously.
2. If you have any questions/requests that need my immediate attention, please leave a separate note (such as bus/car changes) in your child's communication folder and ask your child to turn it in. If your child has a transportation issue, please send an email or call the office.
3. Math homework is assigned Mondays through Thursdays. Chinese homework is assigned on Friday. Students should return the math homework the following day and return the Chinese homework the following Friday. It is important to complete the homework on time! It will start on Sep 12.
I truly believe that we will work together to make our kids have a successful year!
