Meet the Teacher
Meet the Teacher
Hi! I'm Mrs. Krebs
I am originally from Buffalo, New York where I earned my Masters Degree in Education and I still have family there, so go Bills!! I have been teaching for 21 years and have had various teaching experiences throughout my career, but the majority of my experience in the classroom has been in grades 3 & 4. My passion for gifted education began early on in my career, as I found that I just seemed to "click" with the gifted students in my class. This realization led me to apply for a teaching position at Irwin Academic Center (CMS' only full LI/TD Magnet School) where I taught for 6 years. While at Irwin, I earned my AIG Certification through Queens University and gained a ton of experience and knowledge surrounding gifted students. After a while at Irwin, I wanted to be closer to home for my own children and I moved to Huntersville Elementary School as a third grade teacher. I spent a few years at HES teaching 3rd grade and then an opportunity presented itself to move into the AIG Teacher position at HES and I took it! I have been in this position for 5 years now and it is such a joy to be able to work with both students and teachers to meet the needs of our gifted students. I am very proud to say that last year, I earned my National Board Certification in Gifted Education, as well.
I have two amazing young adult children and my husband of 25 years (his name is Brendan) is a Chef. I also love animals, so we have two cats (Pepper and Luna) and a Chihuahua named Daisy who drives me a little crazy, but I adore her.
I love to cook, hike, walk, read, listen to podcasts, and (of course) Netflix and chill.
Some of my favorite things include:
fun felt tip or gel pens, anything Buffalo Bills
Treat: dark chocolate treats, trail mix (I love cashews and almonds), cupcakes (lemon and carrot cake are my fav)
Drink: coffee, Coke Zero
Favorite Color: blue or purple
Restaurant: Bad Daddy's & Jimmy Johns
Birthday: November 6th
