Séptimo Grado

Welcome to 7th Grade Spanish!

This is a High School credit course that lasts all year. You will learn to communicate about everyday topics such as giving contact information, describing yourself and others, discussing where people are from and where they live now, expressing your likes and dislikes, describing your ideal home, and your ideal school day.

You will be assessed through both performance based activities and content based tests and quizzes.

Tips for Success!

Be an active listener! ( Look at the teacher, listen to the teacher, think about what the message the teacher is trying to convey with words and actions or visuals together.)

Always try your best! Don't be afraid to make a mistake. Making mistakes is part of learning a language. Remember, the goal is to communicate your message in Spanish. Even if you have to act out a word, use gestures, or point to something to help the listener understand, you can still meet your goal. Just don't use English!

Go with the flow! Participate in class activities even if you don't see the purpose of it. Every activity is designed to help you achieve proficiency. Don't miss out on an opportunity to improve!

Focus on what you CAN do, not on what you can't! At this point, even though you have had one year and a half of Spanish, you are at the beginning of your language learning journey. Set realistic, attainable, goals for yourself. For example, you may listen to a long radio commercial, but you will only be asked to identify the date or a few other specific details of the event that's being advertised, not all of the extra information in the announcement. Focus on what the teacher asks you to identify in the reading or audio.

Always have a positive attitude and treat your classmates, teacher, and learning environment with respect.

Remember that this is a high school credit class and it requires work outside of the classroom.
