Our media center/library is the heart of our school where students, teachers, staff and parents collaborate using books and technology to enrich our learning experiences. We have a library that is home to over a plethora of books, periodicals, newspapers, magazines, and DVDs that support all aspects of our curriculum. The media center is open Monday-Friday from 7:30am-3:30pm.
Students in grades kindergarten-fifth grade visit the media center weekly during their specials rotations. Students are able to check out 1 book (kindergarten and first grade) or 2 books (second grade-fifth grade) for 2 weeks at a time. There are no fees for overdue books. However, students are expected to pay for lost or damaged books.
Hello! I am Ms. Egerton and I serve as the Media Coordinator here at SRES. This school year be my first full year at SRES and my fifth in education. Prior to become a Media Coordinator, I taught fourth, sixth, seventh, and eight grade English Language Arts. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and my graduate studies at North Carolina Central University. As you might have guessed, I love reading -- so I can’t wait to share some good books with our scholars that I know they will love and enjoy! I have a deep passion for the stories I read and the work we will do together in the media center. I hope to pass that passion on and inspire students to love books and the hunt for information and knowledge.
Our media program is aligned with North Carolina's Digital Learning Standards, AASL Standards Framework for Learners, and ISTE standards. We utilize Common Sense Education Digital Citizenship Curriculum. The media program integrates core content areas into our lessons and activities.
