About Your School Counselors
Ms. Valderrama: Hello! My name is Jayden Valderrama, and I’m so excited to join Sharon Elementary School as an elementary school counselor. I earned my B.A. in Human Development and Family Studies, with minors in Counseling and Philanthropy & Nonprofit Studies, from Auburn University (War Eagle!) and my M.A. in School Counseling from Gonzaga University. I’ve had the privilege of working with students in both elementary and middle school settings, and I’m passionate about helping every child grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
As the oldest of three girls in a military family, I learned early on the value of resilience, adaptability, and connection; skills and values I bring to my work every day. Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, baking, traveling, arts and crafts, and spending time with family and friends. My fiancé and I recently welcomed a sweet new puppy, Charlie, into our lives, and we’re loving the adventures of having a new puppy in our lives. I’m thrilled to call Charlotte home and can’t wait to get to know and support the incredible Sharon School students and families.
Ms. Powell: This is my 11th year at Sharon Elementary supporting students, staff, and parents. I have my National Boards certification. I earned my B.S in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health Education from UNCG and my M.Ed. in Counseling & Student Development with a focus in School Counseling from Winthrop University. My role is to ensure that school is a safe place for all learners and that students have an adult friend they trust. I enjoy traveling, going out to eat with family and friends, and my favorite animals are hippos.
