OUR STUDENTS
ABOUT OUR CHARLOTTE EARLY COLLEGE STUDENTS
Student cohorts of 50-75 individuals at the Charlotte Engineering Early College and the Charlotte Teaching Early College experience a fast-paced and demanding curriculum. The CEEC students take two years of engineering and math-centric coursework, followed by up to three years of university courses in math, history, engineering, and liberal arts. The CTEC students take two years of teaching-centric coursework followed by up to three years of university courses in teaching, liberal arts, and other targeted courses.
During their 12th-grade year, our students complete a capstone course that combines English IV and Project Lead the Way: Engineering Design and Development (in the case of the engineering program students) or education research (in the case of the teacher program students) in which students complete a year-long design project. This class, known as Senior EXPO, gives our students a chance to simulate the real-world dynamics of team building and project management while showcasing their problem-solving skills to the community.
Charlotte Engineering Early College and Charlotte Teaching Early College are CMS schools in partnership with UNC Charlotte. Our school’s focus on problem-solving was developed to encourage and prepare a more diverse, STEM-prepared workforce in the Charlotte area.
