Originally from Connecticut, I spent several years in the D.C. area before making North Carolina my forever home. I hold a B.A. from Wake Forest University and an M.A. from Lenoir-Rhyne University. After a career in management consulting, I transitioned into counseling to pursue my passion for supporting children's growth and success, joining CMS in 2023. Outside of work, I enjoy reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors with my husband, our daughter, and our Australian Shepherd, Sully.

I am a Charlotte native and attended Queens University and UNC Charlotte. I have served as a school counselor in CMS since 2011 and at PRM/SFM since 2022. I am a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of School Counseling and also serve as a supervisor for interns. I am married to DJ Sir Charles and we have two children at SFM, Trey and Grace. I enjoy taking walks, yoga and visiting the ocean.

Hello, my name is Kenzi Kavalir and I am a current graduate student at UNC Charlotte studying school counseling and play therapy. I am originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and I am super excited to be joining the Sedgefield Montessori community this fall! Outside of school, I enjoy baking, crafts, painting, going for walks, and spending time with friends and family! I am looking forward to getting to meet all of the students and staff and playing a role in providing support this upcoming year!

I am a graduate student at UNC Charlotte pursuing my Master's degree in Counseling under the concentrations of School Counseling and Play Therapy. I have also obtained my Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Development: Birth - Kindergarten Teaching Licensure, as well as my Graduate Certificate in Early Childhood Mental Health. I am a former educator and have always loved working with children and their families in any capacity that I am able! Beyond work and school, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, listening to music and catching a concert, and moving my body. I'm so excited to be joining the SFM community!
Mission Statement
The school counseling program at Sedgefield Montessori promotes success in the areas of social/emotional, academic and career development through delivering intentional, evidence-based activities and interventions that also encompass the Montessori philosophy. We will teach the ASCA mindsets and behaviors and build relationships with students, families, staff and community partners to ensure that all students have access to a high quality education now and as they transition to secondary programs.

Hi! My name is Luci Devore, and I am a School Psychologist with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. I am excited to serve three Montessori school communities this year. This marks my fifth year as a school psychologist and my third year with CMS. I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina and my graduate degree from Winthrop University. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about collaborating with students, families, educators, and school teams to support academic achievement, social-emotional well-being, and behavioral success. I look forward to building strong partnerships and helping our students thrive throughout the school year.

I am excited to join the Sedgefield Montessori Team. For the past six years, I have been employed with CMS as a School Social Worker and McKinney Vento Liaison. This year, I am assigned to five Montessori schools, and I am really excited to step into the new role.
With 20 years of social work experience, I have had the opportunity to serve in several areas including 10 years in the non-profit sector, medical social worker, all inclusive care for the elderly and hospice care. I am passionate about school social work because it allows us to help build a strong foundation for children’s education by removing barriers and supporting students’ ability to fully engage in learning. I'm committed to connecting students and families with the resources and support they need to succeed socially, emotionally and academically.
Outside of work, my husband and I have been married 15 years, and we have three children (ages 13, 10, and 7). In my free time, I enjoy gardening (both food and flowers), reading, taking long walks, and spending time in nature.
I look forward to meeting you all and partnering together to support the students and families at Sedgefield Montessori.
We now offer School Based Mental Health through Jenkins Creative Counseling Center. This document explains more about these services. In order to get started, please complete the CMS Consent for Release form and send it to your child's classroom counselor. This will allow us to release your child’s name and reason for referral to Jenkins Creative Counseling Center.
