Course Prospectus 2021-22

EC English: (Grades 9-12).This class is based on each individual student’s needs. Student’s IEP will dictate the type of instruction the student will receive throughout the year. Students will follow the Extensions of the Common Core State Standards. Students will read regular and adapted text and articles. We will be using the Unique Learning System for instruction. Student’s writing assignments will be based on the student’s individual goals, and method of writing. There is a strong emphasis on listening and reading comprehension in this class. Students will also work extensively on their Communication skills. Students will be graded as per CMS grading policy.
EC Science: ( Grades 9-12) Students will follow the Extensions of the Common Core State Standards. Students will also discuss current science topics and keep up with science and technology breakthroughs and innovations. Unique Learning systems will be used for instruction. Students will be graded as per CMS grading policy.
Transition Classes: (Grades 12+). This class will help students learn the skills required for them to be successful at home, school, the workplace, and the community. Students will acquire knowledge about Safety, and Transportation. Students will follow the CMS Transition Curriculum for Safety and Transportation. Students will be graded as per CMS grading policy.
The grading system for CMS: 90-100 (A), 80-89 (B), 70-79 (C), 60-69 (D), Below 60 (F).
CMS Grading policy : PREPARE: 20% of grade based on Homework, warm-ups small checks for understanding. REHEARSE: 30% of grade based on Quizzes, mini-assessments, and classwork. PERFORM: 50% of grade based on Unit assessments, common assessments, performance tasks, writing assignments.
