The Canvas Commons: Several teachers in this district and around the world have already shared content they are using with their students that you can easily import into your own course.
Parent/Observer accounts: Canvas also provides an easy way for families to keep track of everything going on in Canvas for their student. Observer accounts can see of the assignments, grades, and teacher communication with their student like viewing the calendar to see when assignments are due to the gradebook where they can see how students have done on previous assignments. Read and Write for Google Chrome is Chrome extension to support students with reading and writing. This tool provides access to text for all students. It is designed to help everyone engage with digital content using a variety of support tools. Click here for a video tutorial.
Screencastify is a Chrome extension for students and teachers to explain thoughts and concepts through screencasting. It connects to your Google Drive YouTube channel. Google Meet is a video conferencing app. It allows users to join pre-scheduled meetings from calendar events, choose a link, enter meeting code and even dial in from their phones. Conferences are primarily used for virtual lectures, virtual office hours, and student groups. They can also be used to demonstrate technologies or troubleshoot technology issues online. Conferences can accommodate as many users as needed, though the recommended guideline is a limit of 100 users.
Dyknow is a classroom management software that minimizes distractions and helps keep students on task. With the teacher and student signed into the Chrome browser with their CMS Google account, teachers can view all their students devices in real time, choose what you want students to see and block what you don't, and view stats about students usage.
