Course Overview:
This course will investigate the various aspects of our planet and our place in the universe. The students will investigate the importance of water, weather, biomes, conservation, ecological principles, and many other topics that relate to our planet.

Grading policy
Grade Categories
Prepare 20%
Homework, warm-ups, exit tickets, smaller checks for understanding
Rehearse 30%
Quizzes, labs, mini-assessments, mini-projects, classwork
Performance 50%
Unit assessments, common assessments, performance tasks, writing assignments, projects with rubrics, labs, speeches

Late penalties of no more than 5 points per day will be deducted for 5 days.
Late assignments will be accepted until one week (5 school days) after the “Perform” for a maximum of 50%
50% will be assigned as the lowest grade for any assignment for which the student shows a reasonable attempt to address the minimum requirements of the task.

Retest Policy
Performance assessments (not projects or writing assignments) can be retaken for up to an 80. Retests should be taken within one week of the original test.
Students must coordinate retesting with their teacher. Students must engage in remediation before retesting.

Absences
- Students have five days after the first day they return from an absence to make up for missed work. It is the student's responsibility to confirm missed assignments.
Class Behavior and Discipline: Let’s keep it simple: RESPECT! Maintain a positive attitude, show respect, be outgoing and helpful and we will have a lot of fun. Please be on time to class!
Tutoring: Students will need to meet with the teacher to set up tutoring.
Class expectations
Be on time (in the classroom) or you will be marked tardy.
Be ready for class when the bell rings. Start bell-work upon class arrival
No food, drinks, or grooming are allowed in the classroom.
Disruption during class will not be tolerated.
Be respectful of other people and their property
Do not work on other assignments for other classes while in class.
Consequences for breaking classroom rules (depending on the behavior this order may not be followed)

Referral
Classroom Computer Usage: Students must use the CMS issued laptops. Students must follow school acceptable use policy and use them for classwork ONLY. Failure to use computers appropriately will cause privileges to be revoked.
